2006! Our 20th anniversary year!

Begun in 1986, we've just entered our 20th anniversary year.

Issue #114 was sent out to our members in December, and the deadline for contributions to #115 is February 4.

As mentioned earlier and in the sidebar, we're not looking to establish a web presence in an interactive way, but rather this is meant mainly to be another avenue for potential and former members to (re)discover us. We're really about print on paper, not cyberspace.

For and about Legends APA, a bimonthly, print, comics APA active since 1986. This site's a touchstone for general information rather than something meant to be frequently posted to.

APA stands for Amateur Press Alliance. It's a system that allows commentators and creators to publish their work in print for limited distribution among its members. Legends is bi-monthly. Members produce a set number of copies of their latest zine, send them in to a Central Mailer who collates the contributors' zines, adds a table of contents, covers, etc., then sends copies of the complete issue out to the members and waitlisters. Contributors work on their next zines, ideally including reactions to and commentary on what the other members produced in the most recent issue. For a full breakdown of how it works, here's the Legends Constitution. (100% free of Islamic Law, unlike some other constitutions I can think of...) Anything the contributors want, though we're primarily brought together by our love of comic books. Life, loves and loathes, though, it's wide open. Some members are refining their craft with the intent of getting into publishing paying work, some are simply those who enjoy the medium and want to get together with fellow fans in a print setting. Since 1986. Issue #115 was mailed to contributors in February, and the deadline for #116 is April 1 -- no joke! Just ask. Most of the members prefer to be strictly print on paper people so far, but some of us have at least basic sites or blogs. One or two might be running a little out of date, but that's the way of the 'Net:
